Singer 404 sewing machine cleaned and serviced VG Condition w/Access SN AM896016

This Singer 404 Sewing Machine has been cleaned inside and out, serviced, and fully lubricated, motor has been rebuilt. It's in very good condition and sews beautifully. This is a straight stitch only machine.


The machine is in very good condition. There is a small paint chip on the nose, a few small chips on the handwheel and a scratch under the handwheel (probably from the clip on a case it was once in). Defects are pictured. Includes instruction manual, all accessories shown, including a Singer branded walking foot., cord, pedal, pack of 10 needles, 6 bobbins.


Serial number is AM896016, built in the late 1950s/early 1960s.


The 401s were some of the last all metal machines they built. With a little care, this machine will still be running in another 60 years.

The condition is based on cosmetics. We will not sell a machine that does not sew well!

- All parts not removed are cleaned and degreased, lint and debris are blown out with air


- Brass plates removed and polished


- Stitch selector plate


- Stitch length plate


- Throat plate lift plate


- Logo and model are polished in place


- Tension assembly is removed, disassembled and cleaned


- Foot pedal is disassembled and cleaned


- Case is detailed using mild cleaner


- Painted parts are cleaned with a mild cleaner


- Bobbin winder arm


- Handwheel


- LED light bulb installed


- Bobbin winder tire replaced if necessary


- Bed cushions are replaced if necessary (rubber feet)


- Machine is reassembled, lubricated, adjusted and tested


- Needle bar height


- Hook timing


- Cam timing
